How to Pick a Party Theme

My oldest daughter Tess turned 5 a few weeks ago! She is a little party planner herself. She loved helping me with the details of this party and definitely had an opinion. When she picked an Ice Cream Party in November I was a little worried about how I was going to be able to pull it off. Most of the ice cream/popsicle items are seasonal during the summer but we were able to pull it off with a little help from some absolutely amazing and talented people on Etsy!

We picked out the cute Ice Cream Truck Invitations  and stuffed them in pink envelopes.

Outside I placed some balloons from Studio Pep. I am obsessed with their whole shop! Like shop of my party planning dreams!!! I am so sad I didn’t know about them sooner I would have loved to use them for my Unicorn and Mermaid Parties! And also this ice cream cone balloon.

Party Set Up

I decided to set up my house a little different this time and I didn’t have a table right when you walk in and I am so glad I did that because it was way more open. On the right side I set up a backdrop and lined the edges with this tissue paper and these fringe streamers along with hanging a banner. I also tied some Studio Pep balloons to this fun Ice Cream Truck from Target.

Treat Bags

The goodie bags were designed by and stuffed full with some fun goodies! My daughter obviously got a little excited when she saw them displayed and wrote her name right on the front! That wasn’t the original plan haha but hey its her birthday so if she wants to write her name straight across the front she can go ahead!

These soaps were absolutely perfect. When I got them in the mail they were even more amazing then I could have imagined! I found bags and stamps at Hobby Lobby and bagged them up and stamped an ice cream cone and “soap” on them so all the kids were know what they were. Because I will be 100% honest they smelt good enough to eat! I loved it when I went to visit my sister a week or so later and found that her girls had displayed their soaps in their guest bathroom for everyone to use when they came over!

What’s in your goodie bag?

The goodie bags also had these ice cream squishy things , these erasers, these pens, and these bubbles, along with these little ice cream treat erasers. Along with the treats was this cute card that Lola paper doll designed for me. Each guest also got their own ice cream bowl and spoon to take home with them!

Along with having these super cute ice cream cone badge pins.

I have always wanted personalized stickers for my kids birthday parties and finally with the help of Jessica I was able to pull these cute stickers off! She has some pretty cute stickers in her shop. I can’t wait to use them for the next party. Its all in the little details for me!

Goodie Bag Tags

I found these tags on Etsy and thought they were the absolute perfect match for the goodie bags. I loved the saying and they were amazing quality!! Here shop is so dreamy. I was thinking umm these are probably too nice for a 5 year old birthday party! haha

Party Centerpieces

On the table I added some flowers in an ice cream sundae jar with these fun Ice Cream Centerpieces. I also displayed this amazing Print from Shelby Nichole. I sprinkled the table with these amazing sprinkles confetti by Studio Prep. And had a few other jars with candy in them!

Party Treats

In the jar I put some pastel marshmallows that I used through out the party. I picked these up while I was visiting Mexico and thought they would be perfect for any party with this color scheme. I found some similar ones over on etsy.

I also displayed these cute ice cream cards through out the party! Along with these prints.

Party Decor

Along with being part of the decor table was these fabulous can kabobs! Sweets Indeed did them and did an amazing job. I am a gummy/sour fanatic and so I love having these included in my kids birthday parties. And Sweets Indeed fully outdid herself with these Ice Cream Candy Kabobs. I also had to order her Cone Candyfetti Mix that was used on the cake!

Throughout the party I displayed more prints and some other ice cream decorations throughout the party! Like this banana split and ice cream sundae.

Party Decor

On the other side of the table was where the kids put the gifts. I had these amazing garland made for me. Handmade and unbelievable. I am in awe of how talented people are!

I hung the other half of this banner package by using the ice cream cones.

Over the couch in the family room I used these fun balloons from Studio Pep.

I hung these ice cream cone mirrors that I got from land of nod. Since it was off season for summertime they were super on sale! SCORE!

I also fell in love with these two other ice cream banners that I used for the party! The one across the mirror is found here and the one above my back door is found here.

Party Backdrop

To add dimension I added more of the 4-leaf clover streamers. I have been wanting to try these out but had used the coffee filter streamers for other parties so I tried these out and I loved them! Loved the price even more! I also hung pastel tassel garlands throughout the party.

I order a backdrop from here and then made a balloon garland stringing balloons from the Studio Pep. I did mini balloons, normal size balloons, along with some white balloons and gold confetti balloons.

Using push pins I just layered the streamers and balloons and then I hung some of these ice cream cone

In the front of the table I put this banner along with more of the tissue garlands.

In the candy toppings I used these little “cupcake toppers” to stick in the candy to personalize it a little more.

Now onto the food table! So I found this shop that had super cute plates and other decor for an ice cream party. Their touches are throughout the whole party! Here is the link to the plates that I used.

Party Treats

I dipped a variety of cones that I got from Walmart and then displayed them all. Most of the kids ended up using their personal ice cream bowls so we have lots and lots of ice cream cones left over.

I displayed this amazing, unreal sign that my daughter fell even more in love with when it came in the mail! She thought it was the best thing ever to see a personalized sign just made for her.

I got an ice cream truck display stand and displayed some cookies and cotton candy in it.
I had these mini ice cream trucks that I got from here that I printed and folded. I filled them with the pastel twisted marshmallows. The kids all had to grab one to not only eat the marshmallows but to play with the trucks!

Treats

I had my good friend Cassey did the cake pops, cake and sugar cookies! She is my absolute go-to in Arizona. She has amazing products and prices and has done cakes and goodies for my last 5 plus parties!
And she used the cutest cookie cutters from here, here and here!

I dipped some nutter butter cookies to make these little ice cream cone treats. Along with the Oreo/vanilla wafer ice cream cones. And then the kids pretty much had a free for all eating all the treats and ice cream they wanted!

My nephew always says how he wants to have a party with water bottle labels! He always talks about how much he loves coming to my children’s birthday party because they always have water bottle labels haha. And I picked out these ones for the party and they were perfect!
Some more of the decorations for the “treat food table” was this cute light from here and this absolutely dreamy ice cream print from here! Along with this ice cream card and this balloon!

Party Activities

Tess had to have her favorite face painter at her birthday party along with a bounce house. My parents joked about how the face painter gets invited to all of our family parties. But honestly I wish she did come to every party because she is absolutely amazing! Her email is [email protected].

Crafts

We also had a few crafts. The girls most did the crafts while the boys jumped on the bounce house! We made “ice cream play dough” using this recipe and then also using washable paint we made foot print ice cream cones.

It was such a fun party for my little 5 year old!! She has talked about her party almost everyday! I absolutely loved the theme! Even if it was an ice cream party in November! I had an amazingly talented photographer who always gets the details!
Happy birthday Little GIRL!!! Love you!
