Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream

Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream is one of my all time favorite treats!
I will admit that I make this recipe all year long! Yes it is that yummy! This ice cream was made at lots of family parties growing up with my moms side of the family. This recipe originally came from my aunt and has been passed down from generation to generation. It is perfect just by itself or on top of a warm brownie and even better is with homemade hot fudge.
Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream
3 eggs
3 cups sugar
1 can evaporated milk
2 package peppermint candies, unwrapped
1 pt. whipping cream, whipped
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
whole milk
Beat eggs, sugar, and evaporated milk well. In a medium saucepan over low to medium heat place 1 package of the unwrapped candies in milk (just enough to cover the mints). Let cool. Then pour into the egg mixture. Crush up the other package of mints. Then pour in the mixture. Then beat all these ingredients together. Pour in ice cream freezer; chill. Then add whipping cream and vanilla. Fill to the line (in the ice cream makers container)  with whole milk. Then place the container in the ice cream maker and make according to directions. After it is done in the ice cream maker place in a freezer safe container and place in the freezer.
